What is sterilization?

Many consumable hospital products (e.g, Gloves ,syringes , sleeves , IV line etc ) are used and disposed after single use . However lot of surgical tools and equipments that are used in medical procedures, cannot be discarded. Sterilization is the process to make these instruments/ equipments , 100% pathogen free (disease causing micro organisms) after use. In order to achieve that ,we follow internationally drawn standard protocol. Firstly instruments put in ultrasonic bath , dried ,then packed in vacuum seal pouches. These pouches are then kept in Steam - pressure device (Autoclave ) for a 45-60 minutes cycle, to complete the sterilization. The whole process is recorded for tracking purposes and effectiveness of sterilization validated frequently.
